WiPC and Global Forum on Freedom of Expression; Oslo, June 2009

From 1 - 6 June 2009, Oslo will be the scene for a comprehensive freedom of expression initiative. The first two days - 1 - 2 June, the Forum will be the host of the WiPC International Conference. The International Freedom of Expression Exchange, Human Rights House Network and other organizations will also be holding their business meetings at the same time. These will then be followed by a three day open forum for the same organizations as well as for academics, artists, human rights defenders, politicians and journalists, etc.

The Global Forum on the Freedom of Expression will provide an opportunity for free expression practitioners of all types to exchange resources and strengthen their capacities and networks, while simultaneously providing an opportunity for engaging with international media and the Norwegian public through panels and workshops on free expression issues, practical training and workshops held in a variety of languages, facilities for global networking, campaign coordination and strategy development, an open marketplace of ideas in the city center, a film festival, concerts and outdoor exhibitions and awards ceremonies for excellence in journalism and struggles against censorship.
